Purpose of FOIA Blog

As many may know OR should know:
  • All 50 states have public record laws which allow U.S. citizens (including non-residents) to obtain documents and other public records from state and local government bodies. Many of the state public record laws are similar to the federal FOIA, but there are differences. Always review the specific law and regulation you are working with before you proceed. Refer to the code section for your state .
In the state of Illinois, as of Jan. 1 2010, a significant amendment was made in their FOIA statutes. If you know of other states that have made significant amendments, please add as a comment to this blog and we will also add to our webpage for future reference: Link>> http://nfpcar.org/FOIA/
